My Daughter got Married!!

Thursday, April 23rd, 2009

I couldn’t hold it any longer….my daughter got married this past weekend!! We went home to South Florida for the nuptials. It was a beautiful ceremony and I am so happy for them. What does all this have to do with knitting or crocheting? Well….the white shawl I’m making her is one of her wedding gifts. Hopefully I’ll finish it before her first anniversary!

The new Knitty Spring 2009 is up! The only pattern that grabbed me was this ‘Flit + Float‘ scarf. I like the stitch pattern and the drape the baby alpaca yarn gives. This pattern gets a thumb’s up from me.

Mrs.Beeton Wristwarmers & Rosebud Neckwarmer

Saturday, January 31st, 2009

The Mrs. Beeton Wristwarmers are finished and I think they are super cute! Today I give them to my friend, along with the Rosebud Neckwarmer. Hopefully our Central Texas weather will allow her to wear them a few times before our cool weather gives way to Spring temps. I’m happy to say that the yarn and beads were taken from my stash and I have more of this yarn whenever I get the time to make myself a set.

I am three rows from finishing the first of the Mrs. Beeton wristwarmers. Although the photo didn’t quite capture it, there is a row of size 11 beads on the higher ruffle edge. The pattern is easy enough, but I can’t figure out how the file photo shows a distinct difference is the length of each ruffle. I didn’t get the same effect, and I even added two extra rows to lengthen the higher ruffle….oh well, I still think the pattern is cute.

Here is the beginning cast on row for the Mrs. Beeton wristwarmers. I have decided to use one strand of the same alpaca yarn that I used for the Rosebud Neckwarmer. The size 11 glass beads were luckily in my stash of beads – – yeah! On a more humbler note, this is my second attempt on the long-tail cast on….the first time around I didn’t have enough “tail” for the 108 stitches! So……..I am hoping my second try is successful. And yes, I stranded the 54 beads onto the yarn first, using a little needle threader like this.

Knitty Fall ’08

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

Hey everyone, the new Knitty Fall ’08 is up. There are many sock patterns available for sock lovers, but these three caught my eye. I love the sweater ‘Twist & Shout’ because the cables are beautiful and the construction of the front is unique. The scarf is so delicate and would make a nice gift for the holidays. The baby blanket is VERY unique and reminds me of a blanket pattern I bought called “Curve of Pursuit” which also has geometric lines. (Click on each photo for pattern link)

I've been knitting & crocheting many years, and it is great to see the rise in popularity. Basically, the loves of my life include: knitting, crocheting, being with my family and giving thanks to God for how He's blessed my life, but not necessarily in that order!
