Cheeky Monkey

Mr. Cheeky Monkey is complete. This is a gift for a co-worker whose baby nursery theme is monkeys using the colors: brown, sage green and light blue. So, watcha’ think……did I nail it? Ha! I had so much fun making this little monkey, and I did it in just a few days! It went super fast because I knit the legs, arms, tail and head in the round. I used yarn that I had in my stash (yay!). I showed the monkey today to another co-worker (a non-knitter) and I was surprised when she asked if it was a ‘sock monkey.’ I guess the yarn color is very similar to the socks used for those monkeys. Anyway, I must tell the co-worker that I’m gifting this to, that I knit him!

The little sweater is a pattern from the book, “Knitting for Teddies” by Catherine Bouquerel. The body of the sweater measures 6 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ and the sleeves are 3″ long. Just in case you’re wondering…the baby’s name will be Ethan Tanner, thus, the initials. This was such a fun and easy project! Btw, a little over one hundred knitters have made this monkey on Ravelry, but do any of those monkeys have such a sweet teddy friend like my monkey? I think not!
(Update: I decided to add lips and more stuffing to his muzzle to make Mr. Monkey look more friendlier!)

Oh he is such a cute monkey. I love the sweater with the initials too and I am sure the mom to be will absolutely adore him.

How adorable!! I knew he’d be a cutey. I thought of ET the alien as soon as I saw the initials. lol
Am I the only one that finds his tail placement a bit funny. Gutter mind, sorry. 😉

You did a great job!

Now, I’m just thinking back to my years as a tot. First let me say that I know I was different. Puff the magic dragon and Ragidy Anne and Andy moves frightened me.

With that said, when I first clicked on the page, I was a little scared of him. And I’m grown now, LOL. I know you’ll move forward with the gifting anyway, great. I just wanted to give you a slightly different perspective.

Yes, you nailed it.

Very cute, Judy! By the way, how did you have to pay him for the photo shoot?

I've been knitting & crocheting many years, and it is great to see the rise in popularity. Basically, the loves of my life include: knitting, crocheting, being with my family and giving thanks to God for how He's blessed my life, but not necessarily in that order!
